Having originally studied at the London College of Printing and Goldsmith’s College, Bernadina taught Art and Design for 15 years at both FE and HE levels. Her work has sold privately and commercially in the UK at shops and galleries including Liberty, the South Bank Centre and Leeds Craft and Design Gallery, and it has sold in Sweden, Germany, France, New York and San Francisco.

Current Work

Bernadina is drawn to landscapes with low horizons and evocative skies, unpredictable light and colour, and challenging proportions. She has held a life-long fascination with maps and journeys, and these are often reflected in her work. The paintings shown on this page include part of a series of studies of the effect of light on the snow-covered South Downs, almost indistinguishable from the sky, as seen from Ditchling this winter.

Brighton Festival in Ditchling

Bernadina will be exhibiting paintings with other Ditchling-based artists at the White Horse Inn in Ditchling as part of the Art in Ditchling trail of artists’ open houses during the Brighton Festival throughout May 2012.

Attic Club Exhibition in Ditchling

The Attic Club will be holding its 75th anniversary exhibition at Ditchling Village Hall in July, including work by Bernadina and many other local painters.
